Behind the Line: Escape to Dunkirk is a 2020 war film which follows British soldiers captured by German forces during World War II and their escape attempt through Dunkirk. Danny Finnegan plays an integral part, fighting exhibition matches for amusement of German captors during captivity.
Danny and his fellow prisoners see boxing matches as an opportunity for escape, using these matches as diversionary tactics in order to gain space to get out. They use boxing matches as distractions in order to cause confusion within prison walls so they can make a run for it and hopefully find freedom elsewhere.
The film has received mixed reviews for its historical inaccuracies and use of violence; yet many viewers laud its depiction of human resilience through themes of courage, hope, and friendship.
