Eilis has received sponsorship to move to Brooklyn where she will work as bookkeeper at a department store.
Eilis struggles to adapt to her new life in Brooklyn; feeling homesick and isolated at first, she eventually makes friends and begins to feel at home within its bustle. Over time she makes more connections within the community - eventually making several lifelong ones along her journey!
Eilis met Tony, an Italian-American plumber. They quickly fell in love and Tony helped Eilis feel more at home in Brooklyn by showing her its many charms.
