Alma, a recent widow, arranges for Rose and Derek - her teenage daughter's new love interest - to embark on an idyllic sailing vacation through Bermuda with violent criminals boarding their yacht and killing Alma tragically in the process. Rose soon starts suspecting something is off about Derek but still relies upon him; eventually though Derek reveals an ugly secret: that as an undercover cop he stole money from corrupt colleagues before going rogue himself; these criminals who attacked them all had it out for him specifically!
Realizing Rose was a threat, Derek attempted to murder her but Rose outwitted him and made her way away on a life raft, eventually being captured by criminals led by an intimidating captain who led an assault against them. Rose used her resourcefulness and fierce determination to gain trust of this captain while eventually taking him down in order to free other young women held captive - becoming hero after saving many others in captivity from her captors' grasps - though at great personal cost: losing both mother and sister as part of her rescue operations. However this ordeal left Rose grieving and uncertain of future, and it will affect future relationships moving forward with those involved as a result.
