Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutts follows Maya Dolittle who longs to become a veterinarian but believes her ability to connect with animals alone should suffice. Tiffany Monaco notices Maya's skill at communicating with animals and takes her away to Los Angeles where her unique talent will soon be appreciated by Hollywood starlet agents.
Tiffany persuades Maya to co-star in a TV show called "Animal Talkers", where Maya uses her gift to aid animals. However, its true intent diverges from Maya's desire for animal care and becomes more about entertainment than providing assistance.
Maya navigates Hollywood with help from Lucky (voiced by Norm MacDonald). Through-out the film, Maya wrestles with whether to remain part of Hollywood or pursue her goal of becoming a veterinarian.
