The story "Green is Gold", tells of the lives of two brothers Elias, and Riley, who are thrown into turmoil when their father is sentenced to prison. Elias, a thirteen-year-old boy is forced to live with his older, estranged brother Riley who lives in isolation in a cabin.
Elias learns Riley's dirty secret as they adapt to their new home. Riley grows marijuana and sells it. Elias is not happy about Riley's illicit activity.
The brothers, despite their disagreements, must learn to depend on one another as they face the difficulties of their situation. Financial difficulties, social exclusion, and the threat of being discovered by authorities are all constant threats.
Elias, and Riley grow to appreciate and understand each other more as time goes on. The two learn how to better communicate and come up with common ground, despite having opposing views.
It explores the themes of responsibility, family and how to find your place in this world. The film does not promote or glorify drug abuse, but instead portrays how people react to illegal activities and make difficult choices.
