"I Like Movies" tells the tale of Lawrence, an 18-year-old cinephile struggling with both high school life and his ambition of attending film school.
Lawrence loves movies but struggles to fit in due to his outspoken and sometimes disagreeable personality. For solace he finds comfort at Sequels Video Store where he works part time as an employee.
Lawrence forms an intimate connection with Alana, the older manager at Sequels. Additionally, Lawrence interacts with Matt, his single mother, and other colorful figures in their daily lives.
This film tackles themes of friendship, growing up, self-discovery and film. It captures awkward adolescent experiences while exploring dreams pursued and social interactions to overcome challenges encountered during these important years of growth and discovery.
