Yu-feng (Kao Yuen), our protagonist, has spent an inordinately long period searching for his missing father since he mysteriously vanished without explanation a decade prior. On this quest he eventually finds himself traveling north through China's forbidding landscape to locate him - his journey taking him into unforgiving northern regions such as Tibet.
Yu-feng must navigate both an inhospitable landscape and Jin-feng (Cheng Pei-Pei), the daughter of an influential beggar clan in this film, who ultimately becomes part of their unlikely love story.
While this film contains its share of action sequences, its main focus lies with dramatic mystery elements. Yu-feng becomes obsessed with unravelling the truth surrounding his father's disappearance and pursues this investigation to its conclusion with many surprising twists and turns along the way.
