Yet it was astronauts like Eugene Cernan who laid the path toward lunar exploration with ease and danger. A courageous test pilot, he was recruited alongside 14 others via an underground process and would become close with both friends and adversaries over time.
Cernan stood out among this fiercely competitive environment by becoming one of only three men ever sent twice to the moon; his second trip being NASA's final lunar mission. As he recalls what loved and lost during those eight years in Houston, his life becomes all-consumingly eventful.
Director Mark Craig crafts an intimate yet epic biography, weaving in interviews from former astronauts with rare insight as well as archive footage and otherworldly moonscapes to produce this highly personal tribute to American space exploration.
