Danny possesses psychic abilities known as "the shining," which allow him to see glimpses into both its violent past and troubling future. With Jack succumbing to its dark influences and degenerating into madness and violence due to a snowstorm, these visions intensify further for Danny; their effect eventually becoming too great and leading him down into madness and violence himself.
